Joseph was born in Koratty, Kerala, India on February 25, 1942. Following his desire to be a priest he attended seminary for several years but then later chose the vocation of marriage. He worked in multiple industries, from motion pictures to retail and commerce. Joseph was always an entrepreneur at heart. In 1984, he immigrated to the US, settling in Reno, Nevada. Wanting to be closer to family, Joseph moved to Houston in 1998 where he and his wife started Herbal Massage Inc., in which he was the president and manager.
Joseph Martin will be remembered as a loving, family man and hard worker. Joseph was a man of faith and works with a strong devotion to Korattymuthy (a Marian apparition in Kerala, India) to which he attributed his healing from pancreatic cancer. He had an amazing green thumb, managing to raise plants; both decorative and edible, in any environment. His backyard in Houston resembled a South Indian paradise. Joseph had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a mischievous smile during competition, especially when playing his favorite card game, which he often won.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Shanti; his children, Jess (Jinny), Jom, Jomary Chenet (Franz), Josia Strong (Cooper); his grandchildren, Joey, Jason, Inshal (Monica), Rinju, Jolie, Gianna, Zamiel, Sanden, Stiles, Eli B; and his great grandchildren, Evangelis and Philothea.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Mary and son, Jomon.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
