Commander Joseph William Timlin was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Sabina E. Timlin and Joseph W. Timlin, Sr. He attended Miami University in Ohio and earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Joe served 21 years in the Navy as a jet pilot flying F4D-Skyray and F-4 Phantoms assigned to several aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean and two tours in Vietnam flying combat missions. He was also an honorary Blue Angel. After retirement from the Navy he entered his second career developing the Aegis Weapon system in Navy warships with SYSCON Corporation until 1996.
Commander Timlin passed away August 4th, 2021 at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center of Houston, Texas. His wife, Ruby J. Timlin and daughter Sabina A. Timlin survive him. Son Joseph W Timlin III preceded him in death. He has three siblings; Mary Lou Slifka of Ohio; Paul Timlin and Sara Radke of CA.
Joe will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
