

Juanita Estelle Davis went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2016 at the age of 95. She was born on December 24, 1920 in Orange, Texas to parents John Holmes and Ollie Belle Mears. She married the love of her life, Max Leroy Davis, on June 30, 1946. During World War II Juanita worked at Todd Ship Yard as a lead welder. Being a petite woman she was even able to get into smaller, tight spots that others weren’t able to reach. Juanita worked as an Retail Manager. She retired from retail work in 1994 at the age of 74. At which time she lived with her loving daughter, Denise Davis. In her retirement she continued to remain active. She is a member of Fellowship of the Nations Church, formerly Woodforest Baptist Church. She served
The Lord Jesus and her church by teaching Sunday School, working with a team setting up and decorating for events, and volunteer on the Good Shepherd Food Program. From the age of 86 to 93 Juanita taught English to foreign speaking adults (ESL- English as a Second Language). In September of 2015 she entered Lexington Place Nursing Home.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert E. Lee Mears, Jack Mears, and Isaac Mears; and sisters, Hazel Irene Mears, and Mary Mears Herring. She is survived by her three children, Johnny Leroy Davis, Robert Lee Davis, and Ollie Denise Davis; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, September 5, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a Funeral Service Wednesday, September 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
