Juanita Flores (Idom)

Juanita married the love of her life, Newton “Doc” Flores, on November 28, 1943, after meeting in Columbia, Louisiana. She was a devoted homemaker, a strong woman of faith, and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in New Waverly. She had a deep passion for teaching children and serving in the Children’s Ministry.

She dedicated her adult life to teaching Sunday School and Joy classes at various churches. Juanita loved Christian music, Christmas, holiday decorating, cooking, and family gatherings. She was a light in her community, always giving, always loving, and always present for those she cared about.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husbands, Newton H. “Doc” Flores and Clifton K. Idom; and her daughter, Nita Virginia Parton.

She is survived by her daughters: Martha Price, Linda Andrews and husband J.D. Andrews, and Anita Temple and husband Shannon Temple; son-in-law, Ray Parton II; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Stephanie Doyal.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Department of First Baptist Church, New Waverly.

A visitation for Juanita will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
