Kay LaBauve Parnell

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Wray E. Parnell of Houston, Texas and her family Craig and Sherri Parnell of Keller, Texas and Ward and Jill Parnell of Houston, Texas, daughter-in law, Sharon Parnell of Oak Ridge, Texas and her brother, Fred LaBauve of Houston, Texas and her loving grandchildren: Mason Parnell, Whitney Parnell, Scott Parnell, Catherine Parnell, Cade Parnell and Caroline Parnell. She is preceded in death by her eldest son, Randolph Parnell of Oak Ridge, Texas.

Kay was born on September 18, 1931 in Edna, Texas to Ervin LaBauve and Louise Brown LaBauve. She attended the University of Texas before moving to Houston, Texas to work for Humble Oil as a legal stenographer. She married the love of her life Wray Parnell on July 10, 1955 and has been a devoted wife for over 62 years. Over the years, she has welcomed three boys into her family and has enjoyed watching her family grow to include six beautiful grandchildren.

Kay has always been devoted to her family, her hobbies, her charities and her sorority. She has cherished the bonds of sisterhood in the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority throughout her college career and further as an active alumnus and has devoted many years to its ongoing growth and success. She was a longtime active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Aggie Mother’s Club and an avid supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Her hobbies included genealogy research, crafting and gardening. Her dedication and devotion to charity and community service will carry on in our hearts forever. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, wonderful mother and a dedicated volunteer.

A funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF Houston Gulf Coast, 2425 Fountainview #280, Houston, Texas 77057.
