Kay Rogers of Houston passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the age of 90. Kay was born in Chicago to parents John & Mary Martin. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband Roy and her dear daughter Patricia. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Mary. Kay also leaves behind Roy’s family- son David and wife Karen, daughter Marianna and husband Thomas Hammond, son Roy Donald, Jr. and wife Cheryl, son Stephen and wife Kathie and by the grandchildren Kay so loved- Stephen, Michael and Brian Hammond and Elizabeth Rogers.
Kay filled her very full life with so many friends, hours and hours of volunteering at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, working with her beloved colleagues at North West Honda and motorcycling with Roy throughout the country side. She initiated numerous charity motorcycle events and helped produce many patient-to patient programs at Anderson. Everywhere Kay went, good happened and people remembered that it was Kay who made them smile. She was honored numerous times for her commitment to cancer patients and students. And she jumped out of an airplane at the age of 80, and truly wanted to do it again at 90! Kay never met a stranger and always had a kind and sometimes funny word to say to anyone she met. In recent years, Kay returned to her spiritual center and found such peace and comfort and joy in the church groups she joined and in the words and teaching of the church.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 - 9pm at Brookside Cypress Creek Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to your favorite charity or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Kay’s name.
