Kendra Self Rappold, 59, resident of Cypress, Texas, passed away from this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to proud parents Kenneth Self and LaVonne Self. Kendra married the love of her life, Keith Rappold, on April 26, 2008.
Kendra retired from mortgage operations at Cornerstone Home Lending on April 1, 2022. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend until her passing from complications caused by metastatic breast cancer. Despite her lengthy illness, her positive outlook never wavered, and she made the lives of many other cancer patients easier through her volunteer efforts with CanCare. Kendra was a social butterfly and brightened every room she entered with her brilliant smile. Kendra loved travelling, with Italy and Jamaica being her two favorite destinations. Her hobbies included socializing, reading, gardening, baking, dancing, and – before cancer – exercising. Her greatest joys in life were playing with pets, hanging out with her pug Marcia, and watching “Dateline” with Marcia and Keith. Kendra is preceded in death by her beloved pug Frankie, whom she always called her “Little Man.”
Kendra is survived by her husband, Keith Rappold; stepchildren, Mike Rappold and Katherine Rappold; parents, Kenneth and LaVonne Self; older brother, Mark Self, and wife, Jan Self; younger sister, Kristi Correa, and husband, Andy Correa; dog, Marcia; cat, Kevin; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close personal friends.
Kendra was loved by everyone who met her and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, whose work extended and improved her life, or the ASPCA in memory of Kendra and in line with her wishes.
