

Kenneth Page Morris was promoted to heaven on October 21 from his Houston home. Born in Camp Walco, Arkansas on July 14, 1925, “Kenny” moved to Houston after graduating from Malvern High School. He worked for Lee Construction where he advanced to Vice-President. After acquiring the company Kenny changed the name to Alamo Export, then to Gulf Ports Crating and finally to Morris Export Services. He served as president of this business for over 50 years.
Kenny enjoyed 57 years of marriage to his loving wife, Jo. He is survived by Jo and three children, Jimmy (and wife, Becky), Kenneth Jr. (and wife, Melody) and Page Rawlings. Kenny was especially proud of his 10 grandchildren: Corey Rawlings, Amber Brock (and husband, David), Loren Volney (and husband, Matt), Hilary Morris, Jimmy Morris Jr., Kerey Morris, Colleen Morris, Rebecca Morris, Jeremy Morris and Gideon Morris. Kenny is also survived by 6 brothers: Bill, Don, Joe, Jim, Aubrey and Gary; as well as 3 sisters: Maxine Garrett, Aura Lou Myers and Rhydonna Pitts.
Kenny has been an active member of Memorial Drive Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon, gave leadership to a Promise Keeper’s men’s group and served in numerous other roles.
On many weekends, Kenny loved to work on his cattle farm just outside LaGrange, TX. He and Jo hosted family gatherings and many of their church’s retreats there. He was an avid hunter and went on hunts and safaris around the world. He golfed frequently at Inwood Forest Country Club and Bear Creek.
Kenny served as a president of West University Lions Club, Nomads and POPS (Pioneer Oil Producers Society) and also as POPS Chaplain.
He was a Founding Board Member of Trinity Pines Conference Center, a board member of the Baptist Missions Center, a Lifetime Member of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President’s Council and a member of Houston Baptist University President’s Council.
Kenny loved his Lord and loved his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Drive Baptist Church, 325 Piney Point Road, Houston, TX 77024 or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23 at Earthman’s Hunter’s Creek Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston 77024. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 24 at Memorial Drive Baptist Church, 325 Piney Point Road, Houston.
The family will have a private burial service on Monday morning at Forest Park Cemetery in Lawndale.
