Kevin was born on September 17, 1951, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in the Garden Oaks neighborhood on Ebony Street before settling in Jersey Village. After graduating from S.P. Waltrip High School, he attended Sam Houston State University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree.
Kevin dedicated 38 years to teaching, spending most of his career at Campbell Junior High. He supported students through the Technology Students Association (TSA) competitions. Additionally, he was a volunteer and donor for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble, where he loved watching the progress each year of the young participants who caught the calf donated by him, his daughter, and the cook-off team. He devoted over 35 years to mentoring hardworking calf scramble student scholars.
Since 1985, Kevin was also part of the Beefpokers BBQ cook-off team, participating in countless cook-offs over the years, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLS&R) and Texas Association of First Responders (TAFR) cook-offs. He made many friends—who became like family—through these experiences. He will also be remembered for his love of camping and cliff diving with his daughter, Detra, and his friends.
He will be remembered as a loving and kind-hearted man, and as someone who will be leaving wonderful memories with the lives he touched. He cherished his time with his students and loved to encourage and bring out the best in them. He took pride in them when they would go to competition and succeed.
Kevin is survived by his daughter Detra Morosin; his brother Michael Lynn Morosin, his brother Dennis James Morosin (Brenda Morosin) and their children; and his brother-in-law David F. Blonstein; his nephew Dustin Blonstein, and his nephew (godson) Dalton Blonstein.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Ione May Morosin and his father Michael Morosin Jr.; his sister Denise Morosin Blonstein.
