Kitty was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Clara Wyble and her sister and brother-in-law, Tommie Nell and Gilbert Barfield.
Kitty was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, during its golden years and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She always treasured her childhood memories and the loving home in which she was raised. Kitty attended Lamar University and later returned to finish her college education at Sam Houston State University, majoring in English and Spanish.
Kitty’s love for her family was without limit. She was always excited for holiday gatherings and birthdays.
Kitty loved to travel with Dick and could pack for a trip on a moment’s notice. Their favorite destinations included all parts of Mexico, especially San Miguel de Allende and Acapulco, France, and England to visit friends in Devon. The theaters of London gave her enormous pleasure. Together, Kitty and Dick roamed America, coast to coast, making friends at every stop.
Kitty also very much enjoyed being with Dick at their ranch on the Blanco River and later, at their home in Tesuque, New Mexico near Santa Fe. Entertaining extended family, friends, and neighbors at both places always brought her joy. It was also an activity at which she excelled.
During her life, Kitty was a member of the Red Hussars Drill Team at Thomas Jefferson High School, the Melody Maids of Beaumont, the Houston Junior Forum and a Life Endowed Member of the Sam Houston State University Alumni Association. She was employed for a period of time as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of Rowan Drilling Company. Later in her life, Kitty was active in the antique business. She was also a Christ Church Cathedral parishioner for over 17 years.
Kitty lived a full and joyful life, always welcoming family, friends, and God to her side. She will always be living in the hearts and minds of them all. She will be greatly missed.
