Mr. Kofi Kobea, Jr. was born on October 10, 1963 at Bremang-Asuogya (a suburb of Kumasi, Ghana) where he grew up. Late in his teens he moved to Dichemso (another suburb of Kumasi) where he would meet the love of his life, Cynthia Adade Kobea. Kofi was the fifth of seventh children born to Kofi Kobea, Snr. and Yaa Dufie. He started his basic education at Bremang R/C Primary, continued on to Kronom L/A Middle, and completed his high school education at Asanteman Senior High. Life was hard growing up but he found joy in the smaller things such as farming and fetching water.
Kofi knew from an early age that education was the key to unlocking his future and took his academics very seriously. Kofi had the dream of becoming an accountant. But as the demands and burdens of family life grew, the desire to see the needs of his family met outweighed his personal goals. Kofi would give up his personal dreams, aspirations, and goals to help his family.
After high school, he focused on becoming a tradesman. Although some would say that the premature end to his formal education would put a hold on his success, Kofi gained even more through his experiences such as traveling throughout Africa buying and selling clothes and establishing various businesses. God had seen and marked Kofi in his mother’s womb as a commander to lead others to their destiny and build, mold, and shape the world around him.
Some may call it mere luck, but when opportunity meets preparation, a man has unlocked the keys to making advancements. In 1991, the doors of opportunity opened for Kofi to migrate to the United States. Men can be driven by selfish ambition, but Kofi always kept the prosperity and well being of his family in mind. Entering this new land meant that there was hope of a better tomorrow for not just him alone, but for the generations to come. He quickly put his hands to the plow and started working at a pizzeria until he was able to find a stable job delivering newspapers. After just a few years in the United States, Kofi gained grounds and relocated his immediate family to the United States and paved the way for several other extended family members and friends to join. He also later became self-employed and established a transportation logistics company called Ancient Limo. Kofi Kobea was married to Cynthia for 33 years and had five amazing children ( Nancy, Stacey, Kevin, Chelsea & Casey) all of whom he adored. He was a devoted father, leader, husband and devout Christian, who loved the Lord and led his household based on biblical principles. Kofi Kobea made it his mission to serve those around him. When he was not working, he spent time advising others, spent time with his wife and kids, helped feed the homeless downtown, cooked for his family and watched sports.
Kofi still lives on through the lives of the people he touched. His character is that of a man full of intelligence, simplicity, humility, selflessness, determination, focus, patience, love, laughter and joy. We, his dear family, shall surely miss him. We take comfort and encouragement in the wise words that Paul stated in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18:
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words."
Kofi is in his eternal home, and knowing this, we do not mourn like the world, because Kofi has gone to be with the Lord and is resting from his works and accomplishments. We rejoice, because we will see him again. Well done Kofi and thank you for living a life worthy of honor. Your legacy and life will never be forgotten.
Kofi Kobea is survived by his wife, Prophetess Cynthia Adade Kobea, Children (Nancy Kobea, Stacey Kobea, Kevin Kobea, Chelsea Kobea & Casey Kobea), In-law ( Nana Wiredu), Brothers (Obour, Atta, Obeng), Sisters (Vic, Boatemaa, Ode ) and a host of other relatives and friends.
