Kristopher "Kris" Holder, age 30, passed away at 9:35 am on Friday, July 5th, 2024, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Kris was a man of faith, an adventurer, who deeply loved his friends, family and his work as a traffic engineer.
Kris was an avid adventurer and globe trotter. He repeated his senior year of high school in Ecuador as a foreign exchange student and spent a summer in India as a missionary to help spread the gospel he loved to the poor and the children of India. Kris also loved skydiving, camping, hiking, cooking, road trips and spending time with friends and family, always seeking new experiences and embracing the thrill of the outdoors. In his final months, he was renewing his passport to visit college friends living abroad. On Father's Day, Kris shared with his dad that his next big goal was to save for a house and start a family.
Kris graduated from Klein Oak High School, and held two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, in Civil Engineering and Spanish & Portuguese Literature. His academic journey continued at Columbia University, where he earned a master’s degree in Civil Engineering, focusing on traffic design and data science. During his college years, Kris interned with RPS, where he gained valuable experience inspecting bridges. After completing his studies, he joined Alliance Transportation Group (ATG), working on traffic design projects. His enthusiasm for traffic design led him to pursue advanced studies at Columbia University. In April of this year, Kris began his role as an Associate Engineer at Iteris, where he played a key role in expanding signal timing and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design services.
Kris is survived by his father, Jimmy Holder Sr.; his mother, Brenda Beckham; his brothers, Sean Holder and Jimmy Holder Jr., and their wives, Kayce Holder and Sasha Holder; his grandparents Della and Harry Stockton; his beloved nieces and nephew, Jennifer Holder, Alyssa "Lulu" Holder, Lukas Holder, and Emmalynn Holder; and too many friends to list individually.
Kris's warm personality will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
The Master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!”
