You are more than welcome!  The first time I met Brother Kuo-Hui was when I joined HCC's Church Council and he was the Chair.  We became fast brothers and remained so since then.  Star of Hope is also one of our favorite charities because of their work for the Lord.  (I believe we had the same fave restaurant, Sweet Tomatoes!)

May the Peace of God which surpasses all understanding, be with you, Sam and family.

So, I made a little 90 sec video slideshow (sorry, I don't quite have Rachel's awesome editing skills) in tribute to GanBa.  It brought me some peace and comfort finding all the photos and realizing just how long we've known each other (and how many great meals we've shared) over the decades!  He will be missed greatly :(

Dear Mrs. Wang,
Please accept our most heartfelt condolences. You and your family are in our prayers. The testimony of your husband's good character is carried in many hearts and minds. Our memories of Dr. Wang over many years are full of respect for his dignity and godliness. His succinct praise and approving smiles were treasured because they were genuine and came from a man of high standing. The many good deeds of your husband remain in your family and many friends.

We lived in Houston 1979-85 and were in the same Fellowship with Elder and Mrs, Wang. They were several years older and had our respect.  Sam was our childrens' leader and a very good example for them.  I attach a picture taken when we moved away in 1985 at a farewell party at Elder Eddie Yip's home.   Then after having a career in medical research and 19 years of serving the Lord full-time, we moved back to Houston in 2018.  We are very glad to be close to all those friends again.   We will miss Elder Wang and know that we will see him in Heaven soon.  May God comfort Sister Grace and the Wang family.

Mr. Wang was a wonderful, kind, Godly man.  Every time we spoke with him, we always felt that we had his undivided attention and his sincere interest in our family.  We will miss him but know that he is now with the Lord and is at peace.   

Wang Shu Shu (uncle Wang) was such a kind and godly man.  We will miss him.  My first memories of him are when we were little, their family were the ones that introduced us to Houston Chinese Church.  He would give my brother and I a ride to attend church as my parents were busy running a Chinese restaurant.  He would pick us up faithfully each Sunday.  Through the years, their family showed a lot of kindness to my family and we deeply appreciate it! Mrs. Wang still calls up my mom in CA to talk to her occasionally.  Mr. Wang was a godly leader of the church for so many years.  He led by example as he was always kind and patient with all.  Although we will miss him,  we are glad he is rejoicing in heaven with our Lord.  Our prayers go out to Mrs. Wang, Sam and Terri, Michael and Rachel during this time.

A beautiful memory from a couple of years ago  of Mr. Kuo-Hua Wang, his lovely wife Grace Wang, and myself, Zeenat Mitha.  Mr. Wang will truly be missed. He was a kind, quiet, good natured, caring, and Godly man, May his soul Rest In Peace. 🙏🏼


Please accept our deepest and sincere condolences to you and your family.  We will deeply miss talking to Mr. Wang at Terri’s  birthday celebration each year.  Mr. Wang is always such a joy to talk to.  He has so much wisdom and always so kind and considerate.  I love how both of your parents always ask about our girls such as their age and what grades they are currently in.  They especially always express sincere joy in seeing us each time we meet.  He will deeply be missed at your family events.

汪伯伯 was such a sweet, gentle, personable and wise man, always wearing a warm smile. We always enjoyed chatting with 汪伯伯 whenever we saw him.  We know he is enjoying heaven with Jesus but we will miss him so dearly.

Mr. Wang was always a dignified presence with a gentle smile throughout my life. I never saw him ruffled or upset. He had a quiet laugh and always seemed so serene and quietly joyful. He will be missed.

Jesus wept at Lazarus' tomb, so grief, even tempered with the knowledge that we will meet again, is a part of this life. So we grieve with you, even as we rejoice in the confident expectation of seeing Mr. Wang again because of what Jesus has done for all of us.

We have known Mr. Wang first as Elder Wang from church and the dad of our good friend, Sam,  from our fellowship.  However, over the years, he and Mrs. Wang have became dear friends like family.  We cherish spending many of the family holidays in the recent years with them.  We will always remember Mr. Wang’s kind and gentle spirit.  Every time we see him, he always greeted us by name and a warm handshake.    We are so honored to have known this Godly man.    Mr. Wang  will be missed dearly.

As a youth growing up, Mr. Wang was a faithful presence in our church along with his family. As Henry served alongside him at church council, he would have wonderful interactions with him. It's true that he would remember our names and stop for a time of fellowship whenever we saw him. We always appreciated his warm and gracious smile that made us feel special. He lived a life that was glorifying to God. We are thankful for the friendship of the Wang family and are praying for comfort during this difficult time.

Generations of Friendship


We often gather with the Wang family, whom we consider as our extended family, during the holidays, special occasions and vacations.  During these gatherings, our parents would sometimes reminisce about “old-time” much like in the movie “Joy Luck Club”; and our generation would listen in.  

It turned out Mr. and Mrs. Wang played a critical part of bringing Virginia and me together!  It was the Wang’s who led my in-laws Joseph and Wanda Chen to Houston Chinese Church (HCC) in 1976, because Mrs. Wang and Wanda Chen were college schoolmates.  It was at HCC I met and married Virginia.  Then my wonderful Mother-in-Law befriended my parents Stephan and Debbie Li and helped lead them to Christ in 2015!  

We became closer friends with Sam and Terri during our young professional days.  We each got married and raised a family; and now our children have also become good friends and placed their faith in the Lord.  When we gather now, our children are the ones listening to us reminiscing.  I can only imagine how the next generation will add to the story as God’s plan unfolds.

While we grieve with the Wang’s, we also rejoice with them knowing that heaven has welcomed a new angel, one who has left a lasting legacy in many families for generations.


Dr. Wang was such a kind, gentle, and warm presence. In our brief interactions together in the past few years, he took such interest in our family, especially in our kids and their well-being. We also admire his faithfulness to God and his family. What a beautiful legacy he has left behind. Praying for the Wang family in this time mourning. May God's peace and comfort surround them. Dr. Kuo-Hua Wang was a wonderful, quiet, sweet, Godly man, and he will be missed.  We have known his sweet wife, Grace, and his son, Sam, daughter-in-law, Terri, and his grandchildren, Michael & Rachel, for almost  two decades. A beautiful family.

Dear Elder Kuo Hui, we know that you have gone to a much better place to be with our Lord, but down deep in our hearts, we were still puzzling why you were gone so soon and, in such a hurry.   Obviously,  God must has an excellent plan for you which is beyond our comprehension. 
All the sweet memories of what happened the past forty years have been flashing back the past several days, since we learned the sad news.   It seemed yesterday that in the early 80’s when the Westside Fellowship of Houston Chinese Church had the privilege to have you as our counselor.  In so many Friday nights, you drove all the way from your home at Fondren  Southwest  to I-10 and Dairy Ashford to be with us, to help, to enlighten, and to give advices to members of young families like us, who just settled in the new city.
We truly saw the fruit of the Holy Spirit in you, you demonstrated so many Christian virtues – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,  and self-control.    We will miss you immensely. 
At this trying time we pray that our Lord’s invisible hands will wipe the tears off from your wife Grace, son Sam , daughter-in –law Terry and grandchildren.  Altogether, we behold  and look forward  to seeing  you again.       Love,  Bob and Kathy


I only met Dr Wang one time but found him to be very kind. I do know his son, Sam, daughter-in-law, Terri and grandchildren  Michael and Rachel. What a wonderful family. So sorry. May he Rest In Peace. Thoughts and prayers. . 

Our sincere condolences to the Wang Family. We love you, mourn with you, celebrate life with you but still physically miss MR. Wang. I can’t say I personally have known Mr and Mrs Wang, seniors,  for a long time, but I met them a few years ago here in Texas. My mother in law has known Mrs. Wang since they were 16 years old. So to me, the Wang’s were just like family in my heart. I loved them and enjoyed with gladness giving them hugs when I saw them.  We would celebrate some of the Thanksgivings and Christmas’ and gathered our families, three generations (seniors, us, our kids/their grandkids) to fellowship and feast.  I found MR. Wang to be such a lovely man. He was quiet, observant, humble, gentle, calm, kind, intelligent, and I watched him always next to his wife Mrs Wang, whom he loved and served and covered over her to protect and honor her. It was a beautiful match.  They were  such a cute senior couple. On our last potluck gathering, we exchanged food and gifts and celebrated separately due to the pandemic, but few weeks later, I got a card from the Wang Seniors in nice block writing, a thank you. It was so unexpected because I don’t even write enough thank you cards, but here MR Wang clearly did to say thank you for the thoughtful gift. I was impressed that our seniors would take the time to write a thank you. I was thankful.

We will miss MR. Wang at our future physical gatherings, but we will never forget him. We will meet you again one day in Heaven with Jesus. When we miss you, just like God’s imprint is on us who call ourselves Christians, Mr. Wang’s imprint is in his son, Sam, and Sam’s son Michael and it will bring a smile to our heart. The kind, intelligent, humble, thoughtful, grateful, calm, gentle man covers over others...the Wang.

Unfortunately since they didn’t like to take pictures I don’t have any with them, but I did find one that I took of the Wangs.

 Elder Wang and I went to the same Taiwan University on the same year and we shared our morning devotions for a relatively long period of time on our knees together, several days in a week. In that period, he was the persistent and serious seeker and I was the one that required more pushing and support. Years later,, we found out that we were in the same energy related profession and we interacted on that basis as well. Again, I was impressed by how he had matured in many instances of Christian Virtues- the conviction, the strength, the follow-through,  the clear vision and the strong conviction. He has demonstrated to be a true leader. 

In recent days, I heard that his health had slowly failing. Regretfully, the pandemic outbreak has made people hiding  behind close doors for many of us and I lost a precious moment to share our thoughts and experience with each other. 

My condolence to his family. The faith we share is a faith of hope. All things good come from our precious Lord, who is our all!
