

Kusumben Sumanlal Shah, 94 of Houston passed away on Saturday March 2, 2024 under Hospice care at home in Katy, Texas.
She was born in Kariyani, India to Keshavlal Mulchand and Mangalaben Doshi on June 11, 1930.
She and her husband arrived in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1987 before relocating to Rochester, New York and finally settling in Houston, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sumanlal Shah of Houston, Texas and son Uresh Shah (Shefali) of Duarte, California and her parents Keshavlal and Manglaben Doshi and three brothers Pravin Doshi, Vinay Doshi and Mahendra Doshi all from Calcutta, India and her sister Kumud Shah of Ahmedabad in India.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sons, Jiten Shah (Kathryn) of Owensboro, Dipak Shah (Parul) of Philadelphia, daughter Smita Parmar (Pankaj) of Houston, daughter in law, Shefali Shah of Duarte; grandchildren Chris Shah (Jennifer), Monika Matuszak (Andrew), Nina Whalen (Brian), Pratik Shah (Rupal), Zarna Shah (Vijay), Stavan Parmar (Christina), Sumir Shah (Jaanki), and Priyanka Sexton (Parker), eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by one sister Vasantiben Shah (Manubhai) of Surendranagar India.
Upon arriving in US, she enjoyed spending her time with immediate and extended families.
She was admired, respected and loved by her maiden “Doshi” communities based in Calcutta, India and her married “Shah” communities from Godhra, India.
She was referred as Mom, Bhabhi, Bhabhima, Motabhabhi and Ba. For hundreds of relatives in USA and in India she was their “Loving Mom.”
Being an avid reader, she regularly read Jain religion books and magazines. As a devout Jain follower, she often participated in many Jain activities. Her passion was also singing and listening to religious songs.
She loved cooking and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and embroidering for her families all of her life until just recently. All her grandchildren cherished the handmade blankets and scarves.
She loved everyone and never drew criticisms or saw flaws in any one young and old who touched her life!
Visitation and Memorial service will be 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at
Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home

A reception will be held following services from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Event Room.
Cremation services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park Crematory, 2454 S. Dairy Ashford, Houston, Texas 77077.
