

L.B. Jeter, lovingly known as Jeter, Oudie and Uncle Oudie, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, at the age of 100. Born on February 1, 1924, in Shreveport, Louisiana, His life was a testament to resilience, determination, and the love for his family.
Raised on a cotton plantation, L.B. learned the value of hard work at an early age. Leaving school in the sixth grade, he dedicated himself to supporting his family, picking cotton and driving tractors. In 1947, L.B. moved to Houston, Texas, with his wife, Willie Mae Marshall, and their daughters, Noralean and Clara.
He was a self-taught mechanic, co-founded an automobile repair business in 1951. His career path was diverse, including roles at Brown and Root Construction, Frederick Poultry, and Clark and Court Paper Company. In each endeavor, he demonstrated exceptional work ethic and dedication to his community.
Mr. L.B. Jeter, who was a proud Prince Hall Mason, was the oldest member of his Lodge, Magnolia Lodge No. 3 located in Houston, Texas. He enjoyed simple pleasures: beans and cornbread, Swisher Sweets cigars and the Houston Astros. L.B. instilled a love of baseball in his grandchildren, fostering a shared passion that spanned generations.
L.B. and Willie Mae’s legacy lives on through their children, whose accomplishments in medicine and pharmacy reflect the values of education and ambition that their parents instilled.
His battle with colon cancer, from which he emerged a survivor, is a testament to his strength and support of his family.
As we remember L.B., we celebrate a life that began in the cotton fields and blossomed into a successful entrepreneurial journey. He was a man who taught himself, built a business and inspired his community. His legacy is one of perseverance, ingenuity and an unwavering love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Marshall Jeter; daughter, Dr. Noralean Williams; mother, Mary Dyson Jeter; father, Willie C. Jeter; siblings, Ledall Brady, Rosevelt Mathis, Johnny Jeter Sr, Jack Jeter, Willie Jeter Sr., Ernest Jeter, Hattie Mae Jeter Owens, Maggie Jeter Jefferson and Cleveland Jeter.
L.B. is survived by his daughter, Clara Malone; son-in-law, Dr. Jesse Williams; grandchildren, Larry Coffer, Louis Coffer, Makkada Selah, Micah Williams, Willie C. (Diana) Malone; and great-grandchildren, Margeaux Malone and Zachary Malone who will forever cherish his memory. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews to the 4th generation.
A visitation for L. B. will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral service will immediately follow from 11:00 M to 1200PM. The committal will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
