Lana Jayne Durham

Lana Jayne Durham, born May 6, 1944, in Macon, Missouri, passed peacefully Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, in Flower Mound, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of Edna May Evans Arnold and Oliver Martin Arnold of Macon, Missouri.

Throughout her career, Lana held many professional roles, but she was best known as a Choir Director and later Director of Liturgy at several Catholic churches across the Houston-Galveston Diocese. In these roles, she ministered to countless individuals through the thoughtful select of hymns, the celebration of the Catholic seasons, and by accompanying families through life’s most profound moments – weddings, funerals, and times of both joy and sorrow. Through her grace, faith, and devotion, she uplifted her community, embodying Christ’s love in all she did.

Lana was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Mathew Durham (1970 – 1991), daughter Julie Ann Araiza (1963 – 2024), husband James David Durham (1938 - 2023) and her parents, Edna May Evans Arnold (1911 - 2003) and Oliver Martin Arnold (1913 - 1986). She is survived by her daughters, Priscilla Denise Dale and Rebecca Nicole Durham, both of Sanger, Texas, and her son Jason Martin Durham of Houston, Texas. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lana’s life was a testament to virtue, devotion, and faith. She carried herself with quiet grace, unwavering kindness, and a deep sense of purpose, touching the lives of all who knew her. Whether through the sacred melodies she led in worship, the gentle counsel she offered in times of need, or the steadfast love she poured into her family, she lived as a reflection of the faith she so dearly cherished. He presence was a gift – one that uplifted, inspired, and comforted those around her.

Though she has departed this world, the light she shared endures – in the hearts of those she loved, in the music she once led, and the many lives she profoundly touched.
