

Larry graduated from Iola High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Sam Houston State Teachers College and a Master of Science in Management Science from American Technological University.
He was married to Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Snook, née Viel, for 61 years.
Larry was a U.S. Army Aviation Officer and Logistics expert as well as an Adjunct Professor for two colleges while serving and retired as a Colonel, Grimes County Judge, Grimes County Precinct 1 Commissioner, and Grimes County Democrat Party Chairman after spending his early years as a PRCA Bull Rider. He was a member and Former Post Commander in American Legion, member and former officer in Iola Lions Club, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member and past Chapter President of Army Aviation Association of America, and member of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and had a passion for hiking up mountains, summiting the highest peak in multiple states, ranching, sailing, riding motorcycles, and writing and playing music on his guitar.
He was survived by his children, Kelly Snook, Dave P. Snook a veteran and former officer in the Texas Army National Guard and his wife Sarah, and Captain Gary M. Snook U.S. Army Retired and his wife Ellen, his grandchildren, Nicholas Boles, Michael Snook, Lauren Snook, Sadie Snook, and Ben Snook, his great-grandson Kaleb Boles and his sister Terry Crouch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Iola Community Center on February 7, 2026 at 2 PM. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date with his loving wife Kathy who predeceased him.
