

Larry Elvin Taylor was the 14th of 15 children born to Joseph York Taylor and Mattie Mae Fryer Taylor in Cuero, Texas. The first seventeen years of his life were spent in Cuero, where he graduated from Cuero High School in 1967. In 1968 Larry enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served our country for the next 4 years until his honorable discharge in 1972. After leaving the military he moved to Seattle, WA where he stayed until 1976. While in Seattle he worked for a major Security corporation and later a pyrotechnic company specializing in firework displays. In 1976 he returned to Texas, where he resided for the next thirteen years. In Texas he spent time in Cuero, Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, where he gained a wealth of experience while working at NASA, Missouri Pacific, AT&T, Southwestern Bell and the City of Houston. Larry moved to Huntsville, AL in 1989 as a salesman for one of their leading radio stations. The following year he finally settled in Atlanta, GA, where he met and married his best friend, Sheryl. In Atlanta he worked for Fulton County while taking real estate classes to eventually achieve his goal of receiving his Real Estate Brokers license. Larry and Sheryl shared a love of both domestic and international travel and traveled extensively until his homegoing.
Larry leaves to rejoice his homegoing three children, Stacee, Melika, Paul and a stepson Marcus (Kristin), grandchildren - Lance, Alexiss, Anthonee, Alan, Lamonte and Gavyn, great-grandchildren- Layden, Alijah, Kyng and Romeo.
In addition, he is survived by nine siblings - George, Dorothy, Virgie, Joanne (Leslie), Jim (Thelma), Jenny, Donald (Lillie), Betty, Henry and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents and five siblings - John “JW”, Lena, Lola, Joseph “JY” Jr., and Mildred preceded him in death.
A memorial service for Larry will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, followed by a visitation from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
