

Lawrence Bernard Warrendorf, 78, born to David Bernard and Dora Petrich Warrendorf of Aldine, who owned a small dairy farm in North Central Houston, passed away on May 29, 2014. He graduated from Aldine Sr. High School in 1957, served as a cold war veteran with last service at Fort Hood, TX as PFC, graduated with Associate of Arts degree from Blinn College in Brenham, TX and graduated with Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Goeckler, in April 1964. He later received his certificate for veterinarian assistant, which was beneficial for his training and later employment with the Houston Zoo, where he worked for 16 years and later retired. He enjoyed tending his poultry and gardening in his free time following retirement. Lawrence was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband and father who will be missed by all. He joined his only son, Benjamin who drowned in 1984; brother, Richard Warrendorf and sister- in-law, Charlotte; sister, Dorothy Welch and brother-in-law, Elton. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Shirley; daughters: Margaret Holt and husband Charles of Seattle, WA and Diana Warrendorf; sister, Kathryn Machesney of Burleson, TX; brother, Ernie Warrendorf and wife Mary of New Orleans, LA; their children: Tina and Ted, their grandchildren in Louisiana; niece and nephew: Rosalind Welch of Friendswood and Loyd Welch of Houston, TX; nephew, Glen Ray Warrendorf and his family of Hope, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Friday, June 6th. Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 7th at Brookside. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
