Leah McCurry Croxton, 64, was born Leah McCarthy McCurry on the 11th of May 1959, and passed away on Wednesday, the 15th of November 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was a life-long resident of Houston and was very proud to be so. Leah was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend to so many.
After graduating from Bellaire High School in 1977, she attended St. Thomas University before pursuing her greatest passion- family. She married David Baker and had two beautiful daughters. She later married Richard Croxton, and had her youngest daughter. Her favorite accomplishment was being the most wonderful mother to all three of them. They never had to question how much she loved them, as she made it clear with every word and action she ever said or did, as she learned from her mother, whom she loved so dearly. She loved watching her daughters become mothers themselves, and seeing how they imitated her in every way, but especially in their parenting. She absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her cousins and siblings were her best friends, and her best friends were like family. Leah was the most selfless, supportive, and beautiful woman, inside and out.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Patrick Collins, her father, Merrit “Sonny” Lee McCurry, her grandfather, Glenn H. McCarthy, and her dear grandmother, Faustine Lee McCarthy. She is survived by her mother, Leah McCarthy McCurry, her brother Sonny McCurry, and wife, Kim; her brother Mike McCurry; her sister Margo Creekmore, and husband, Mitch; her sister Chelle McCurry; her brother Jason McCurry; her many nieces and nephews; her daughter, Leah Lee Baker and fiancé Tony Johnson, their children Natalie Nava, Charlotte Johnson and Jake Johnson; her daughter Rachel Baker Collins and husband Brian Collins, their children Baker Collins, Catherine Collins and Leah Collins; and her daughter Faustine Lee Croxton, and her daughters Faustine Farr and Farrah Farr (due to be born January 2024).
Her family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Garth Beinart, of Methodist Hospital, and his entire team for all they did to help her in her long courageous fight against cancer. Many would be surprised that she was enduring such a battle, as she always looked so beautiful and stayed so strong.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight in the evening on Tuesday, November 21st, in the Jasek Chapel and grand foyer of Geo. H Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
