

Lee Hawkins Compere, age 92, was born in Hamburg, Arkansas. He passed on April 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen; parents, Ebenezer Lattimore and Emma Lucille Compere; brothers, Edgar and Powell and a daughter who lived one day, Linda Lucille; Edgar, his wife Maria and daughter Teresa, brother Benjamin D and his wife Clotine, and son Patrick S., Ben Henry C. and wife Natille Lindsey. He is survived by his son, Ben; nieces and nephews, Alicia and Suzy Compere and their family, John Henry and his family, Bill and Philip Lindsey and their families, John and Mark Lindsey and their families, and Donnie and Willard Peek and their family. Lee was a veteran of WWII, U.S. Army, Arkansas National Guard and he was stationed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska at the start of WWII. He was also stationed in Manila, the Philippines at the end of the war. Lee was a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church and also served as Scoutmaster of Troop 10. He retired from ARMCO National Supply Company and following his retirement, Lee managed the Greenway Park Townhomes for several years. When he retired from managing the townhomes, he and Helen moved to the Park Place of Stafford/Oasis Lifestyles, now the Hampton at Meadows Place where they received wonderful care from the caregivers. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm and interment will immediately follow.
