

Lei Wei, a cherished resident of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her beloved husband, Li, on the morning of Saturday, September 20, 2025. She was born on March 23, 1966, in Luo Yang, China, to Zhendao Wei and XiuHui Zhang. In 1993, she married Li Jiang, with whom she shared more than 30 years of love and companionship.
Lei earned a Master’s degree in Geology and Geoscience from Nanjing University in 1991, followed by a second Master’s degree in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1996. She devoted her entire professional career to the oil and gas industry, ultimately becoming a leader and mentor in her field, and an inspiration to her colleagues. Even after being diagnosed with stomach cancer, Lei’s dedication to her professional duties never wavered, upholding her responsibilities until the very day before starting chemotherapy.
Beyond her distinguished career, Ms. Wei lived a life rich in joy and devotion to her family. She loved singing, dancing, and exercising at the gym. She enjoyed spending many hours making dumplings and crafting a variety of desserts for her family and friends. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, whose love and dedication profoundly shaped the lives of those around her.
Ms. Wei is survived by her mother, Xiuhui Zhang; husband, Li Jiang; her two sons, Leon Jiang and Lucian Jiang-Wei, and her two brothers, Gong Wei and Xin Wei. She will be remembered with deep love and respect, and her presence will be profoundly missed.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077, on September 29, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A witness cremation will follow at the same venue on September 30, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
