

Upon graduation from Immaculate Conception School in LeBeau, Louisiana, Lewis attended Grambling University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He then moved to Houston, Texas in 1960 and worked as a salesman. In 1961, he married Audrey Jean Newman.
Lewis served in the U.S. Army from 1961- 1963. He returned to Houston and began work at Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he worked for 20 years. After leaving Golden State Insurance Company, he formed the company, L&J Investments, Inc. with partner James Donatto. The business dealt with real estate investments and insurance. After several years of a successful partnership, he continued to work in the insurance industry working with business professionals, teachers and laymen. He continued to work until his Parkinson’s Disease limited his ability to continue his business endeavors.
Lewis was a dedicated family man who was wise, witty, compassionate, and determined. He was the “resident therapist” in his command chair to all who knew him. He was known by family as- “Babe, “Poss” and “Willy”. Lewis enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time conversing with family and friends. He was a faithful member of the St. Anne’s Catholic Community. He was a 3rd Degree member of Council 231- St. Francis of Assisi Knights of Peter Claver.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Elliott Bush, Sr., mother, Wilda Gordon Bush, beloved son, Terrance Gerard Bush and his brother, Harold C. Bush. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Audrey, his son Louis Bush (Rachel), daughters Yvette Simien (Quinn), Jeanine Smith (Garret) and Angelita Gordon (Ali), grandchildren; Jaquelyn, Brandon, Austin, Siena, Kayla, Celine, Amelia, Alina, and Raelyn, his great grandchildren; Mya, Alyssa and Elijah. He is also survived by his siblings Yvonne Dalferes (Edward), Maurice Bush (Veraldine), Rose Bush, Renald Bush, Lorraine Peddada (Anantaraman), Patrick Bush (Vicki), Gayle Webb, Ann Bush and Edward Bush (Cathy) . He also leaves behind Aunt Nedia Haydel, Uncles Raymond Gordon and James Gordon, in addition to a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
