

Lewis Charles Unger passed away on July 15, 2015, he was 90 years old. Born November 18, 1924 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia to Royal and Mary Jane Unger. Lewis Unger was widowed in 2012, from the love of his life for over 64 years, Mary Lou Unger, and is survived by his daughter Susan Brock and husband John, daughter Linda Unger, son David Unger and wife Cathy: Grandchildren, Laura Thompson and Husband Steve, Jennifer College, Cynthia Unger, Sara Brock, Kevin Unger, and great-grandsons Crisstopher and Carter.
He had a lengthy 32 year career with Transco Energy Company, retiring at 55. However he continued to do consulting work for many years after in Corrosive Engineering, well into his 80’s.
Lewis C. Unger was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the 8th Battalion “SeaBees”. “Can Do!” was their motto and Lewis was proud to have served and remained in touch with many of his fellow service members up until his last days.
Carpentry was a hobby of his and he built many fine furniture items, including grandmother clocks and even fishing lures made out of wood. Just like everything he did, his workmanship was meticulous in every way.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. in the Memorial Oaks Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
