LILLIAN MARGARET (TOWNSEN) REMBERT, 98, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2010. Lillian was born in Houston to Daisy and Norman Townsen on March 19, 1912. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended Rice Institute.
She loved Houston and lived in the Memorial area from 1939 to the present. As a small child, she rode streetcars from her home in Hyde Park to Downtown to buy sewing notions for her mother. She spent most summers at her home in New Braunfels and enjoyed her daily swims in the Comal River. Lillian had loving memories of her many Houston cousins, aunts and uncles as well as family in New Braunfels, where her grandmother was born, and in Lampasas TX and Monroe LA. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Sherwood Forest and Memorial Drive Garden Clubs.
Lillian was preceded in death by her son, John C. Rembert and her brother, Norman O. Townsen. She is survived by her son, Dr. Frank M. Rembert, Jr. and wife, Marlene, of Houston and their children: Sheila Rembert and Dr. John Parker of Jamesville NY, Drs. Ann Rembert and Dan Safranek of Anchorage AK, Drs. Frank Rembert and Melissa Casper of Bozeman MT and David and Patricia Rembert of Newnan GA; also by her daughter, Nancy Stuart and husband, Greg, of New Braunfels and their children: Scott and Monique Stuart of Houston and Lauren and John Ream of Houston; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Rembert of Tomball and daughter, Julia and Steve Feild of Tomball. Lillian was also very fond of her two nephews, Buddy Townsen and his wife, Dale, of Houston and Norman Townsen, Jr. of Houston. Lillian delighted in her ten great grandchildren: Matthew and Margaret Parker; Laurel and William Safranek; Grace and Claire Rembert; Gabrielle and David Rembert; and Cassidy and Reece Feild. Her sister-in-law, Ouida Townsen, of Houston was like a sister to Lillian and they visited and talked almost daily. Lillian will be missed dearly by her family but will be loved forever.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 until 7 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2010 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 27, 2010 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, TX. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in the Glenwood Washington Cemetery.
