LILLIE RENTERIA went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2022 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 15, 1929 and moved to Houston in the early 1940’s. Lillie married the love of her life, Isidro Renteria, on September 13, 1964 and they had 2 children, Mary Bernadette Renteria and Juan Moses Renteria. She is preceded in death by her mother (Frances), husband (Isidro), brother (Louis) and her twin sister (Pauline) whom she missed dearly. She is survived by her two children Mary and Juan (Cynthia); grandsons, Alex III, Xavier, Isaac and great-grandson Jeremiah Angel; granddaughters Angelica Bernadette and Lilly Marie; her great-granddaughters, Lexanie Bernadette (Carlos), Alayna Angelik, and Martha Alicia; and many other family members who she dearly loved.
Our precious Lillie was a woman of spirit and she loved life. Lillie was cherished for the special love she had for her family, always eager for the next gathering. Her devotion to God was ever present in her life. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a member of the Golder Agers. In the early years she assisted in the religious education for children. The Church Annual Bazaar,
Bingo Sundays, Annual Fish Fry’s and the food festivals were some of her favorite events at St. Alphonsus. Her devotion to the Our Lady of Guadalupe which was passed from her Mother was part of her daily live. She recited the rosary every day. She retired after many years from Briscoe Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide in the Houston Independent School District. In the late 1970’s she became part of another extended family with the Magnolia Park Sharks Football organization. She enjoyed watching her son Moses play football and her daughter Mary as a Sharkette. She was also involved at Dixie Little League for many years. She was an avid Houston Astros fan and watched all their games that were televised.
The Renteria family would like to give thanks to their relatives, friends, the community of St. Alphonsus, and the Golden Agers for being an important part of her life.
A special thanks to her grandson, Alex III who was her caregiver for many years. He also was the caregiver for his grandfather Isidro. All Lillie had to say was “Mijooo” and he was there. She was spoiled by him and they became buddies. No words can express the gratitude the family has for Alex III.
