Linda was born in Brownsville, TX on September 8, 1943, and moved to Houston's north side with her family as a child. Linda met her soon to-be husband, Jerry, at the age of 13. As a young woman, Linda received the sacrament of baptism at Memorial Baptist Church in Houston. Jerry and Linda were united in marriage on May 30, 1959.
Linda Rose was the sweetest of roses. She cared for others her whole life. She made a hobby out of life itself, giving birth to five beautiful babies in seven short years. She was a beast in the kitchen, but was equally happy with Hostess snack cakes. She was a baseball fanatic like no other, especially for her beloved Astros and Jose Altuve. If baseball was on, she was watching, along with her never to be missed episodes of crime TV. She delighted in playing slot machines and taking trips to casinos with Jerry, Sonny, and Jane. She found beauty in hummingbirds, plants and her pets. A devoted mother, wife and caregiver, her greatest joys and pastimes were found in her family. Her grandchildren doted on her. Loving the attention, she was the child-like and always fun Grams, Meme, Momo, Abuela, and other terms of endearment. She will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering – absent from the body that failed her but present with her Lord and Savior.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Lynn Walston; mother, Margaret Utley; sisters, Susan Muskiet, and Kathy Burchfield; brothers, James Utley, Mickey Eishen, and Rickey Pull.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Jenny Lyn Porter and husband Will of Jewett, and Stacy Lynnette Goodman of Montgomery; sons, Brian Keith Walston and wife Claudia of Montgomery, Mark Walston and wife Denise of Cypress, and Loyal Jack Walston II and wife Laura of Spring; grandchildren, Michelle Grimes, Ryan Walston, Shelby Walston, Jake Walston, Luke Walston, Spencer Goodman, Trevor Goodman, Lindsey Walston, Jaxon Porter, Maranda Walston, Savannah Walston, Jerry Walston, Lisa Walston, and Tania Walston; great grandchildren, Landon Culpepper, Walker Alfano, Peyton Walston, Joshua Walston, Cooper Walston, Layla Walston, Zayn Walston, and Nathan Walston; sister, Maggie Utley; and brother, Festus John Utley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Ryan Walston, Spencer Goodman, Trevor Goodman, Jake Walston, Luke Walston, Jerry Walston, and Jaxon Porter.
