I knew Lisa from the time we first met when we worked together at Bookstop back in 1985. I worked with her also at Brentano's bookstore and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Shop in the Galleria. She was such a talented and creative artist and simply a wonderful person. We saw each other a lot over the years, aside from working together. I loved her very much and I will miss her terribly.

I feel so badly that I was not available to be more supportive to Lisa during her battle with cancer.  I thought of her often, prayed a lot and hoped health would be hers.  Her Celebration of Life was amazing... her family and their love for her was unbelievable .  After meeting and hugging her family members...I was relieved that she had always been in loving hands.  Thank you for your smiles and graciousness .

Dear Sugita and Ong families,
I am so sorry to learn of Lisa's passing.  How I remember that little girl who would come to my house for piano lessons.  And, how well I remember what all of you meant to our neighbors in the West End.  May Lisa's soul rest in peace and may you all find comfort in your many memories of  her and a life well-lived.

Dear Aunt Jean, Mimi, Tristan and Emily,
We are all very sad to learn of Lisa's passing.  We know she fought the good fight for so many years and are quite proud of her for being so strong.  She will be dearly missed.  Unfortunately, Cindy, Tommy and I are unable to attend her funeral on Friday.  Cindy is in New Orleans caring for her mother, so I have to stay in California to take care of Tommy.  Our thoughts are with all of you.

Lisa was a truly wonderful person to work with.  She was always loving and caring to everyone here, and would go out of her way to make the staff feel appreciated.  I made it a point to visit the Shop every day just to converse with her, as doing so never failed to brighten my day.
One of her innumerable touching gestures was to keep the candy bowl in the back of the Shop filled so that the staff would always have something to snack on.  Every Christmas she would also make a video of the staff as dancing elves, using the Elf Yourself website.  Such acts are indicative of her enthusiasm, charm, and compassion.  
Lisa was an irreplaceable presence at Bayou Bend, a treasure whose bright smile and cheerful laughter were like a burst of sunshine to the soul.  We shared so many interests that I feel like I have lost far more than a co-worker, but a dear friend.

Lisa was not only an advocate for my wood art, but a great friend.  Her design sense and encouragement helped me to create many pieces from wood that came from Bayou Bend.  She was one of nicest people we have had the privilege of knowing.  She made us feel part of the Bayou Bend "family."  We will never forget her infecitous smile, humor, and care for both of us.
