

Logan Cloyce Atnip went to be his Lord, September 15, 2010 at the age of 87. He was born in Marmaduke, Arkansas to Clarence and Nancy Elizabeth Atnip. After attending University of Arkansas for two years, he enlisted in the Army where he served in Europe in the 6th Army Signal Corps. Upon return, he graduated from Baylor University before going on to the Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth to earn a Masters in Religious Education. It was during the summer of his junior year at Baylor that he worked at the Ridgecrest Baptist Assemble in North Carolina where he met his future wife, Virginia, a fellow staffer.
He served twenty five years in the Baptist Foreign Mission Board as a missionary in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) as a preacher, teacher and head of the Publishing House. Upon returning to the United States he served for twenty years as Minister of Pastoral Care at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia, a sister and a brother, and a great grandchild; he is survived by a sister, Gwen Fahr of Paragould Arkansas; three sons and a daughter – David Atnip of Shanghai, China, Stephen Atnip, wife Nancy of Houston, Clifton Atnip, wife Char of Corpus Christi, Brigitte Ritchey , husband Jeff of Lynchburg, Virginia; six grandchildren Jason Atnip, Kristin Ritchey, Kimberly Ritchey, Kenneth Ritchey, Delilah Lewis, Paige Baker; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday September 22 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Tallowood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service, followed by a private family graveside service.
