

Born on October 17, 1930, in Syracuse, NY,Jean was the daughter of George John and Genevieve Lyda Haller. She grew up with her brothers George and Kenneth, and her sister Barbara Ann Ellis. Jean married her lifelong partner, John Arthur Davis, on October 3, 1953, and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and enduring bonds.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of compassion and joy through her children, Stephen John Davis, Hollis Davis Burns, and Michael Edward Davis. She was a devoted grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, John, Kevin, Laarnie, Vanessa, Charlette, Paul, Kristen and Trey, and a loving great-grandmother to Riley, Levi, Henley, Sofia, Jack and Emily. Throughout her life, Jean was deeply committed to serving her community. She dedicated over 30 years as a volunteer at Memorial Hermann Hospital SW, offering her time and support with kindness and grace. A frequent presence at Tracy Gee Community Center, she enjoyed "Talk Aerobics," cards, dominoes, and coffee gatherings with friends. Her faith was central to her life, and she cherished Sunday services with her church family at the Episcopal Church of the
Epiphany.
Jean’s hands were rarely idle; she was a talented woodworker and painter, as well as a skilled craftswoman in Brazilian embroidery and knitting. Her love of puzzles and reading was well-known, as was her delightful sense of humor. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life, and she was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones at the dinner table, sharing stories, laughter, and her latest joke.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, her parents, her brother George, and her sister Barbara, Jean’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, wit, and unwavering love.
A private burial will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Epiphany Community Outreach Services (ECHOS) 713.270.0369 echoshouston.org, honoring Jean’s dedication to serving others and her community. Loretta Jean Haller Davis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
