Lorraine Sorum

January 7, 1926 – December 11, 2015

Lorraine Davidson Sorum, born January 7, 1926, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2015. Born in Houston, TX, she was raised in the Heights, graduating from Reagan High School, where she was a RedCoat.

In 1943, during WWII, she met Seaman Lyle Sorum while they both waited in line for balcony seating at the N. Main Movie Theater. Two years later they wed and spent the next 70 years together. Prior to starting a family, Lorraine worked as a draftsman at Shell Oil.

Lorraine was a God loving, family woman who was a charter member and very involved at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Houston. In her spare time, she enjoyed oil painting, making stained glass, sewing, and playing bridge. She was dedicated to her children serving as their Girl Scout Troop leader for many years.

In 1982, the Sorums moved to Georgetown, TX, where Lorraine pursued golfing, gardening, traveling, and singing in the choir at Faith Lutheran Church. After 23 years, they left the town they loved to move back to the Houston area. In 2005, the Sorums settled in The Woodlands, TX to be close to family, joining The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Lyle; her four children, Laurie Clark, Luanne Lewinski & husband, Tim, Skip Sorum & wife, Cindy, Linda Loukanis; eight grandchildren, Blake Schollaert & wife, Melissa, Courtney Clark, Paige Loukanis, Kellie Loukanis Price & husband, Jacob, Mitchell Loukanis, Michelle Harmon & husband, Brandon, Brian Hardin & wife, Robyn, Kim Lewinski; 5 great-grandchildren, Addie, Emmie, Grayson, McKenzie, McKenna.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church Robb Chapel in The Woodlands TX.
