

Lourdes Javier Burgos was born on Feb 7, 1947, First Friday at 9:00 pm. Named Lourdes by her Mother Evelina and father Marcelo, in honor of the Lady of Lourdes whose 1st apparition occurred on February 11, 1858. She wonderfully spent early childhood in Candelaria, Quezon surrounded by relatives and friends, the RAZELP who dearly supported her in good and bad times.
She stayed in Candelaria until she finished her secondary education at Tayabas Western Academy. She moved to Manila, enrolled at Centro Escolar University and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce. Prior to her graduation, she was involved in extracurricular activities. She received gold medals in swimming competitions and became President of the Jolly Club, a social organization whose members were all from our hometown.
She immigrated to the United States on December 24, 1969, and stayed in California until she decided to move to Houston, in July 1973. Though physically separated from her family, she seldom forgot to send birthday and other special occasion cards to them.
On January 25, 1977, she filed a Relative Immigrant Visa Petition on behalf of sister Vicky and husband Rico and their 5 children.
She worked for various banks in Houston, but in late September of 1993, she decided to change the direction of her career. She worked in the Internal Medicine House Staff at the University of Texas, till she retired in 2004. Fast forward, she moved to Katy, Texas in 2006. She had become a Parishioner of Notre Dame then became a founding Member of St. Faustina Catholic Church in Fulshear, Texas located about 5 miles from where she lived.
Ludy had an eye-catching style for fashion and enjoyed attending all the family celebrations of her 10 siblings. The family stays remarkably close knit and always finds a way to forgive and love each other. Ludy was immensely proud of all her nephew and nieces for the well-rounded men and women they have become. She always had a listening ear for their stories.
She believed in the power of Prayers who prayed the Daily Rosary and led Daily Offering and Daily Prayer to the Sacred Heart.
Ludy departed peacefully on May 12, 2021, a day prior to the Anniversary of the Apparition of the Lady of Fatima, after receiving the Last Rites and Holy Communion given by Fr. David Michael Moses of St. Faustina.
