Loveless Mitchell was born in Kaplan, Louisiana to Douglas and Isabell Mitchell who raised him and his siblings in a nurturing Christian home. His childhood experiences were grounded in strong family ties which included lots of activities with extended family, aunts, uncles and cousins. These values laid the foundation for his life of caring and compassion for others which he displayed every day.
Loveless received his education through the Kaplan Public School System and graduated from Herod High School in Abbeville, Louisiana. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school and often bragged about his “game.” After attending Dillard University, he moved to Houston, TX where he met and married Annette Marshall. From this union, Justin was born. On January 6, 2025, they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Loveless began his career at General Foods / Maxwell House Coffee where he was employed for 35 years. He earned many awards and certificates of recognition for his job performance. At the same time, he had his own business, Mitchell and Son Scientific Pest Control.
Loveless was involved in various activities throughout his life. He traveled with his son’s Young Master of Music group as a parent coordinator, worked as a crossing guard for Ft. Bend ISD, was a member of NAACP-Missouri City Chapter, member of HOA Board for Hunters Glen 1 & 2, Parks and Recreation Board of Missouri City, and worked for Senator and Commissioner Rodney Ellis.
Loveless enjoyed his leisure time, and backyard barbeques on weekends with family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family and always encouraged them to go to college, work hard to be better, and never forget to honor the Mitchell name. He was a proud father, took pride in teaching his son about life, and how to be a “Mitchell Man.” He enjoyed listening to the Blues, gardening, going to car shows, collecting coins, Black Art, going to museums, and traveling. He was very adventurous and was always excited to learn new things. He spoke often about his prized trip to Africa and his annual Mardi Gras trips. Loveless was a faithful member of Windsor Village Church, a devoted husband and father, a “Dapper” dresser, and a loyal friend.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Douglas and Isabell Mitchell; sisters, Clare Mae Thomas, Rutha Mae Mitchell, Josephine Gilbert, and Shirley Bernard; and brothers, Parnell Mitchell Sr., Douglas Mitchell Jr. and Eddy Mitchell.
