Lupe Garza Castillo, 82, was born on August 7, 1943, in Three Rivers, Texas, and passed away on April 16, 2026. A longtime resident of Katy, Texas, she will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
She was a strong, loving woman whose personality made her truly unforgettable. Lupe spoke her mind and loved fiercely—never afraid to say what she felt, but always from a place of love. She had a way of cracking jokes that could catch you off guard, sometimes even sting a little, but it only meant she cared deeply. Her warmth, humor, and honesty created lasting bonds not only with her family, but also with coworkers, neighbors, and friends who became like family over the years.
Lupe was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Lionel (Leo) Castillo; her parents, Eulalio Garza and Rufina Reyes Garza; her siblings, six brothers and three sisters; and her son-in-law, whom she longed to be reunited with. Though she fought hard to stay and create more memories with her loved ones, she found peace in knowing she would be with them again.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Castillo, Rachel Castillo, Richard Castillo, and Gerald Castillo; her sister, Liz Ryan; as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Lupe loved her family deeply and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She cherished every moment spent together—whether it was sharing stories, laughter, or simply being in each other’s presence. She especially loved dancing with her husband and family, creating memories filled with love and joy.
She also found peace in life’s simple pleasures, like tending to her plants, enjoying her morning coffee, and spending time outdoors. These quiet moments reflected the care and love she poured into everything and everyone around her.
Her love for her family will continue to shine through generations. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.
