She was born in Krum, Texas and at the age of 16 married Lester Simpson and they had a daughter, Ada-Jo Simpson Basilick. She was working as a welder during WWII in the Houston ship yard which is where she met JL McDaniel. They had a daughter, Beauton McDaniel Dossey.
Her and JL absolutely loved to RV, and traveled all over the US. Mabel also loved to read, crochet, and garden. Despite her only having a 10th grade education, she was very well self-taught.
Mabel is survived by her brother Samuel Lee Coker, daughters Ada-Jo Beauton and Beauton McDaniel Dossey, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by JL McDaniel, her parents Ada Louise mother, father William Henry Coker, and sister Mildred Rose Murdoch.
