Manuel Ramirez

Manuel Ramirez, 87, of Houston, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1938, in La Porte, Texas to Ramiro and Juanita Ramirez. He was Baptized at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Navigation on November 1941.

Manuel met the love of his life, Irene Ramirez, and they were married on June 24, 1959. Together they built a loving family and shared many cherished years until her passing.

Manuel served in the U.S. Navy, a chapter of his life that reflected a steady sense of duty and commitment. He later built a long and faithful career with Hildebrandt Engineering before continuing his work with The City of Houston, where he ultimately retired.

Outside of work, Manuel had a passion for cars and greatly enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally with his family. He believed deeply in helping others and spent many years serving his community through various charities, including food banks and holiday outreach efforts during Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings. One of his greatest acts of love and devotion was the tireless care he gave to his wife until her passing.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene Ramirez.

Manuel is survived by his children, Martha Alexander, Emily and husband Stanley, Manuelita, Ramiro and wife Panrada, and Jessie and wife Jessica; 18 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard Ramirez and wife Frances, and Robert Ramirez; his sister, Rosemary Duron and husband Sesario; extended family members, and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Manuel will be remembered for his generosity, devotion to family, servant’s heart, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, Grand Oak Chapel, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, on May 15, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, Grand Oak Chapel, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, on May 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, on May 16, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
