Maple Ruth Anderson

Maple Ruth Anderson, 86, of Blacksburg Virginia, passed away on October 22, 2024 in North Carolina.

She was born in Temple Texas on September 28, 1938 to Berna Dean Anderson and Maple Ruth Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berna Dean and Maple Ruth Hill Anderson, her husband T.J. Anderson Jr., two of her children, Timothy Jon Anderson, and Audrey Anderson Biggs, and her brothers and sisters Lea Ethel Anderson Cook, Berna Dean Anderson, Jr., Bercha Thomas Anderson, Lillie Mae Anderson Lynum, Charles Anderson, Cardell Anderson, and Stanley Edward Anderson. She is survived by her beloved children Dr. Myron Roderick Anderson and Althea Anderson Dobbins, her brothers and sisters, Joe Louis Anderson, Marion Anderson, Jeanette Stewart, Janet Smith and In-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many special friends.

Maple, a humble and devout person of God, was an exceptional Mother, wife, and collaborative leader, who would give of herself to offer support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She was an educator for more than 40 years, earning her Bachelor’s Degree, from Paul Quinn College and Master’s Degree, from Virginia Tech. She served as a faculty member at New River Community College, an Administrator for the Health Systems Agency, and held educational and administrative positions at Virginia Tech. Her career took her to Washington D.C. where she was instrumental in performing research to create national legislation that we enjoy today. Maple was an artist and designer of the Anderson Family Crest. The Family Crest serves as the catalyst to implement the Berna Dean Anderson and Maple Ruth Anderson family values, guiding the family today and for generations to come. Maple was a special Angel that we were all fortunate to know.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home Chapel, located at 10401 W. Montgomery Rd. Houston, Texas 77088. The committal will be held from 3:30 PM to 3:45 PM at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
