

Born on the 21st of November 1932 in Evanston, Illinois, Marcus Wray graduated from Loyola Academy in 1950 (Chicago) and Loyola University night school in 1958. Following two years of service in the U.S. Army he went on complete his Harvard MBA while working in between school years for the Jacksonville Paper Company as Director of Planning. He served a distinguished career in various high level senior management and board level positions. Notably, his 18 years at International Paper Company drew particular recognition for his contributions in building and sustaining various businesses through creative acquisitions. As Chairman and CEO of Joy Technologies he built and managed a team that resurrected the company from the brink to one which ranked among the Fortune 500.
He served and contributed generously to the medical community with a particular focus on juvenile diabetes.
Marcus Wray was a devoted, generous, family man and good friend to many. He is survived by his loving sons, Marc and Andrew, their wives Rachel and Wendy. He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Christopher, Sara, Georgia, Caitlin, Emily and Lauren. His brothers’ George, Danny and sisters’ Anne and Jane as well as his many nieces and nephews will miss his love, support and time.
A memorial service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 20th of July, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer in Houston, where Fr. Alvin Sinasac, C.S.B. is to serve as celebrant.
