It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret Chabala, who left us on Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was 86 years old. Formerly from Wilkes-Barre PA., Margaret and her husband moved to Houston, TX in 2008 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Chabala.
Margaret was a woman of warmth, love, and kindness. A loving mother, she lived a life dedicated to her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her heart swelled with pride as she watched her family grow and thrive.
Margaret also had a special place in her heart for pizza—whether it was a family dinner or a quick snack, her love for it was legendary, and she always was ready to grab a pizza anywhere, any time. It was one of the many simple joys in life that she shared with those she loved, along with watching baseball and an avid reader of countless mystery and political books. Also a devoted Catholic, Margaret could always be found praying her rosary and was often called upon to send up intercessory prayers for her family and friends, which she did with a strong faith, confidence and gladness in her heart.
She will be deeply missed by her children, daughter Michelle Vinson (husband Nathan), son Chip (wife Shirley), daughter Jaclyn, her grandchildren Tamara Laskowski Freeman, Evan Vinson (wife Robin), Richard Laskowski, Ashley Chabala Rooney (husband Warren), Austin Vinson, Andrea Chabala Cerny (husband Joshua), Andrew Wyatt, Eric Vinson, her great-grandchildren Riley and June Vinson, Jack and Andie Lynne Freeman, James and Carter Cerny, Stella and Jackson Rooney, Landon Manuel, her sister Deb Bittinger (husband Barry), beloved nieces and nephews and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy of love, warmth, devotion to Jesus and a good pizza will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the St. Jude Hospital.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. 15810 Creekhaven Drive Houston, TX 77084. Please join us to share memories, stories, and, of course, a pizza or two in her honor. Rest in peace, our beautiful Mommy, Grandma, Grammy, Nanny, Nina. You will always be loved and never forgotten
