Margaret, known to her family and friends as “Margie,” became a “Heaven Keeper” on February 21, 2016. Margie was born Margaret Elizabeth Carter in Germantown, Pennsylvania on May 17th, 1945. Her parents were the late James and Winifred Carter. Margie was the second youngest of four girls. When Margie was just a little girl, her parents moved the family from the snow of Pennsylvania to the sunny beaches of Florida. From that point on Margie had an innate attraction to the sandy beaches of the coast and an infinite affection for an endless ocean view.
Margie was firmly grounded in her Catholic faith. From her childhood forward she had a special place in her heart for the Little Flower Catholic School for Girls. After graduating in 1963, Margie pursued her career and took life by the hand. In the Spring of 1974, Margie arrived in Houston, Texas. She met and married Robert Charles Faircloth on December 18, 1981 which resulted in thirty-four years of marriage.
Throughout Margie’s years of marriage, she was a dedicated wife and mother. She was loyal to those she loved and cared about and always put others needs ahead of her own. Margie had many titles and various interests throughout her life, many of which overlapped – wife, mother, daughter, sister, chauffer, cook, housekeeper, crafter, shopper, fisher woman, camper, Girl Scout Leader, soccer mom, little league mom, and the list goes on. Margie always enjoyed learning new things but especially doing things with her family. She had an endless amount of determination to do and be the best at whatever she put her mind to.
Margie’s drive and determination served her well when she was introduced to the Order of the Eastern Star in 1980. She was very dedicated to her family, friends, and most of all her Eastern Star family. Margie was a member of Northside Chapter #651 O.E.S., Aldine Chapter #1088 O.E.S., she was a Daughter of the Nile Tabeel Temple, and spent many hours with Andral Vann Chapter. For over thirty years Margie lived a life of service for the Order of the Eastern Star.
Margie was extremely dedicated to her family, friends, and community. Margie was an example of what it meant to give to others unselfishly. She worked tirelessly to take care of those around her. More than anything Margie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially at the beach. Whether it was the summer time or Easter, she always enjoyed a great sunset over the water. The beach brought her a sense of peace that only the ocean waves and long view could offer her. Margie was a loving, caring, and kind woman who is and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Faircloth; her daughter & son-in-law, Michelle & Steven Strahan, their children Hannah C. Strahan & Mekayla K. Strahan; her son, John Clayton Jordan Jr. and his children, Kendal, Riley, & Olivia.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents James & Winifred Carter, and her sister Pat.
We’ll see you at the beach Mom…Love you today, tomorrow, & always.
