

Margarita Oliva Ortega, better known as “Momo” to all who knew and loved her, was born on September 27, 1937 in Poteet, TX and left to be with the Lord on April 30, 2012. Momo was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. In over 20 years of working in the food service industry at Coop and St. Charles Elementary Schools, many of her students came to think of her as their grandma. Through her faith, strength, love, gentleness and generosity, Momo touched all those she encountered. Words cannot begin to express the impact she had on everyone that knew her. Momo went home to be with her loving husband of 48 years, Lorenzo C. Ortega and will be dearly missed by her surviving family members; children, Juanita Jaynes and husband Gerald, Rosa (Yoya) Ortega, Martha Derkowski and husband Terry, son Lorenzo Ortega Jr and wife Gina, son Mauro Celestino and wife Farah; grandchildren, Juan Luis Navarro and wife Andrea, Hilario Navarro Jr, Alicia (Chicha) Derkowski, Crystal Derkowski, Kaden Derkowski, Brandon, Bryce, and Brianna Celestino, Erik Metzger and wife Brandi, Amanda Doucette; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Alana and baby Juan Navarro, Seth Metzger, as well as many other family and friends: and last, but not forgotten, her two grand-puppies Sophie and Lexi. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Brookside Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 501 Tidwell Rd. Houston TX. 77022. (713) 692-6303.
