Maria Elva Carreon

Elva was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She devoted her life to her family, her faith, and everyone blessed to know her. Her love, kindness, and generous spirit touched countless lives and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Elva was born on August 1, 1949, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was raised with love by her parents, Reymundo Deleon and Maria Sanchez Deleon, whose guidance and values helped shape the extraordinary woman she became.

For 56 beautiful years, I was blessed to call Elva my wife. She was the love of my life, my best friend, and the greatest blessing God ever gave me. Our story began long before we became husband and wife. We met when we were only nine years old, and by the time we were thirteen, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together forever. Seven years later, on December 21, 1969, when we were both twenty years old, we united our lives in marriage before God and our families, beginning a union that lasted more than five decades.

Together, we built a life founded on love, faith, and family. Through every joy and every trial, Elva stood by my side with unwavering strength, endless kindness, and unconditional love. Because of Elva, our home was filled with laughter, warmth, compassion, and the joy of being together. She gave herself generously to our family, always putting others before herself and making every person feel loved and welcome. The countless memories we shared will live forever in my heart, and I will cherish them for the rest of my life.

One of the greatest gifts of our life together was celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on December 21, 2019. Our children organized that celebration with so much love, bringing together our family, grandchildren, and dear friends to share a day we will never forget. It was filled with love, gratitude, and happiness—a beautiful reflection of the life we built together and a memory I will carry with me forever.

Elva was a devoted mother to our four children and welcomed the people they loved with the same love as if they were her own: Aracely Carreon and her partner, Diana Briagas; Silvia Yarazeth Carreon and her partner, Bertha Gomez; David Isabel Carreon Jr. and his wife, Michelle Carreon; and Enrique Ivan Carreon and his wife, Leydi Teresa Cobos. Nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Ana Flores, and her husband, Jose Flores.

One of Elva’s greatest blessings was her grandchildren, each of whom held a very special place in her heart. She embraced and loved every one of them equally, without distinction, as though each one were uniquely precious to her. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Nicholas Xavier Carreon, Adrian Elyas Carreon, Layla Jolie Carreon and her partner, Isaias Alvarado, Ivana Antonella Carreon, Loreto Delilah Carreon, Yeri Briagas and his partner, Lindsey Stepan, Madelaine Briagas and her partner, David Montes, Daniela Reyes, Ethan Briagas, Martina Gonzalez, Dianenelli Gonzalez, Marcus Arenas Jr., Maritza Salazar, Matthew Anthony Santiago, Roland Joseph Santiago and his wife, Jordana Conti Santiago, Phoebe Alanize Santiago, Grecia Diley Martinez, and Rubi Monserrat Martinez.

She was also blessed with her great-grandchildren: Chloe Symphony Alvarado, Carolina Briagas, Scarlett Briagas, Keighlah Arenas, Christian Arenas, and Brian Zachary Santiago. Each of them filled her life with immense joy, and she treasured every moment of watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and surrounding them with her unconditional love.

Elva was a faithful Catholic who lived her life with grace, humility, and an unwavering love for others. She was a generous and compassionate woman of quiet strength who never complained, no matter the hardships she faced. Every day, she showed our family what unconditional love truly looked like—not only through her words, but through the way she lived her life.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, playing loteria, visiting the casino, catching crabs, watching her favorite novelas, cheering during soccer matches, and caring for her flowers, plants, and trees. Watching them bloom brought her immense joy and reflected the nurturing and loving spirit she carried throughout her life.

Easter and Christmas were her favorite times of the year. She loved decorating Easter eggs and watching the children search for them during the traditional Easter egg hunt. One of her greatest joys was giving gifts to every child she could at Christmas, whether they were her children, grandchildren, nieces, or nephews. Seeing their smiles and excitement filled her heart, and her generosity was one of the many ways she shared her love.

The love Elva gave to our family can never be measured. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, comforting presence, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Although my heart is broken and words cannot fully express the loss I feel, I find peace in knowing that she now rests in the loving presence of our Lord. I also find comfort in knowing that she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved brothers and sisters: Luisa Prado, Enrique Corona, Guadalupe Corona, Fernando Corona, Federico Corona, Blas Corona, and Julia Corona. I can only imagine the joy of that beautiful reunion, surrounded by eternal peace, love, and God’s everlasting embrace.

My beloved Elva, thank you for the beautiful life we shared, for the family we built together, and for the love you gave me so unconditionally. You will always be the love of my life. Until God brings us together again, I will carry you in my heart every day.
