It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Del Pilar Montoya. She passed into Heaven on October 23, 2014 at the age of 90. Pilar was born on February 22, 1924 in McAllen, Texas to parents Francisco Contreras and Ramona Juarez Contreras.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her four sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gloria H. Herrera (Juan), Estella H. Chavez (Rafael), Ernestine H. Hernandez (Froilan), Daniel Montoya (Sandy), Gabriel Montoya (Sophia), Ramona M. Hazlett (Russell), Adriana M. Peraza (Jose), and Javier Montoya (Sara); 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Mom’s dear friend, Margaret Marez; caregiver, Lourdes B. Ruiz; and her doctor, Susan Williams with Baylor Geriatrics for their continued love and care.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014 in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, with a burial to immediately follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
