

Maria met Jose Juan in Ramírez, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and they were married on December 9, 1958.
Maria loved gardening every day from sun up to sun down before she had dementia. When she was not gardening, she was crocheting, embroidering, or sewing. Maria left behind numerous cherished items she crocheted or embroidered for her children and grandchildren. She adored children and spent much of her time babysitting numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her friend's children.
Maria is preceded in death by her father, Erasmo Arroyo; her mother, Rosalia Maldonado Arroyo; her sisters, Consuelo Vargas, Maria Elena Peña, Reynalda Rodriguez, Olga Meza, and Paula Arroyo; her husband, Jose Juan Ramirez; her son, Hector M. Arroyo; and her grandsons, Daniel F. Arroyo and Jesus O. Arroyo.
She is survived by her son, Jose J. Arroyo; her daughters, Nora Ramirez and Sandra Ramirez; her grandchildren, Hector M. Arroyo Jr., Juana I. Ransom, Javier E. Arroyo, Paul V. Ramirez, Alejandro D. Ramirez, Marissa E. Ramirez, and Justin Punch; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home in the Family Chapel, located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas, on December 19, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the same location in the Grand Oak Chapel on December 20, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by the Committal Service at Brookside Memorial Park from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
Pallbearers will include Hector M. Arroyo Jr., Javier E. Arroyo, Paul V. Ramirez, Jamie Vargas, Justin Punch, Thomas Ransom Jr., and Tom Ransom.
Maria's life was a testament to her love for her family and her passion for her hobbies, leaving a legacy of warmth and cherished memories.
