Marie Karolak

Marie Karolak, age 94, of Houston, Texas, passed into God's hands from natural causes on December 14, 2012. She was a dedicated wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A true example of faith and loyalty to her family, Marie Karolak was born August 04, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Bessie Hamberg. She married John Karolak in 1956. They made their home in Chicago, Illinois and had one daughter. During the course of Marie’s life her greatest joys came from her profound love and deep involvement with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Laverne Marshall, son in law Donald Marshall, her grandchildren Joe Vazquez, his wife Maggie and Jesse Prieto Jr. Also survived by Marie are her beloved great grandchildren David Lee Vazquez and Emma Leigh Vazquez.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 19th at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 2:00p.m. with a memorial service commencing at 3:00p.m. by Chaplain Charles Flannigan. Burial will directly follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter in Marie's name and her late grandchild’s name, David Lee Prieto, who passed from Cystic Fibrosis in 1997; “everybody loved grandma”…she will be greatly missed.
