Marion Moser Hawkins

She was born on January 10, 1932 in Iuka, MS. She preceded in death by her husband, Pete Hawkins, her mother, Blanche Moser, her father, Ward Moser, and her sister, Norma Moser. Marion is survived by her three children, Thomas Hawkins, Anne Hawkins Perry, Betsy Hawkins Dodson, sisters Marie Moser and Shirley Poteet, and six grandchildren; Abigail Hawkins, Jack and Andrew Perry, Joseph, Benjamin, and Samuel Dodson. Marion attended Draughons Business College in Memphis and worked as a secretary for GMAC before moving to Nashville to work for the Veteran's Administration. She then met and married her husband of 50 years, Pete Hawkins.

When Pete's work as a geologist brought them both to Houston, Marion immediately began to put down roots and form life-long friendships. She became an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed helping plan their annual conventions for many years. Marion's greatest joy was her family; her husband, Pete, their three children, and six grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who always had a smile and a kind word of encouragement for all who knew her. Although Marion had three biological children, she was considered a surrogate mother to so many others. She loved volunteering, entertaining, restoring antique furniture, playing tennis with friends, and spending time in Round Top, Texas with her friends and family. Marion volunteered tirelessly for so many causes. She taught children's Sunday School, led a troop of Girls Scouts, volunteered in her children's schools and activities from elementary through high school, worked in the Memorial Assistance Ministries Charity Resale Store, and in her later years, tutored young readers. Marion was a long-time member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church and volunteered there in several different roles for many years. She made strong friendships wherever she went and was loved by so many. Marion will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marion's family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care and attention she received while in continuing care at Eagle's Trace.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 2pm at Chapelwood United Methodist Church 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024. A reception will follow the memorial service. Private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Marion will always be remembered for her loyalty, sense of humor, kindness, and generosity of spirit.
