Born 04-08-1966 in Bartow, Polk County, Florida.
Died 06-01-2022 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.
Mari is survived by her son Pablo Eder Cantu IV, daughter Marisol Catherine Cantu, mother Guadalupe Flores Carbajal, step-father Mateo Carbajal, brother Leonardo Flores, Jr., and sister Rosabel Flores. She is preceded in death by her father Leonardo Flores, Sr., and brother Jesus Flores.
Mari was born in Florida, but was raised in the near north side of Houston, Texas. She attended Coop Elementary, Patrick Henry Jr. High, and Sam Houston High School (Class of 1984). Mari enjoyed playing the trumpet in middle school and in high school she was part of DECA, VICA and the Sam Houston Tigerettes drill team. Marisol was a teacher’s aide for HISD for 10 years for the visually impaired and later worked at the North Houston Birthing Center where she helped deliver babies for several years. Mari loved horses, fishing, race cars, classic cars, and travelling. Mari had the chance to visit Chichen Itza, Big Bend National Park, Mesa Verde, Four Corners, White Sands, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, the Very Large Array in New Mexico, Roswell, Cloudcroft, Cancun, Terlingua, Carlsbad Caverns, and the McDonald Observatory in West Texas. Mari was a wonderful giving soul who was a compassionate mother and a loyal friend. We will all miss her and our pain runs deep, but we know that she is no longer suffering with dialysis and is now dancing with her Dad, drinking coffee, and eating pan dulce with her brother in Heaven. Godspeed Mari!
