

She graduated from both Milby High School and the University of Houston where she majored in education and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. It was at the University of Houston where she met her husband of 38 years. Margie’s beauty was second to none as she was voted both Queen of the Winter Festival and 10 most beautiful at Milby High School, as well as a Kappa Alpha Rose at the University of Houston.
Margie taught kindergarten for 11 years at Nottingham Elementary School in Spring Branch ISD, she was the Acting First Lady of Texas on December 21, 1991 and she was also a member of the Texas Senate Ladies Club. Margie was an independent woman with a do it yourself attitude but whose love, grace and kindness were unmatched. She enjoyed the love and company of her family, friends, her puppy Copper, a good book and summer trips to Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country.
Margie is survived by her husband, Donald Blanton Henderson; son, Donald Lee Henderson and wife, Megan; mother, Frances Butcher; brother, Robert Thomas Butcher and wife, Cherita; brother, Lester Kyle Butcher; brother, Joseph Michael Butcher and wife, Pamela; sister in law, Diane Blanton Holman and husband, Marshall; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Butcher; brother, Davis Carroll Butcher; and father and mother in law, Donald Veitch and Marjorie Blanton Henderson.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 12-2pm at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home immediately followed by a graveside service at 2pm at the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
