Born on August 13, 1947, in Houston, Texas, Martha was the beloved daughter of Encarnación Rodríguez and Marcario Garcia. She lived a life filled with love, strength, and devotion—especially to her faith and family.
A devout Catholic, Martha’s unwavering faith in God was the foundation of her life. She found purpose in prayer, strength in her beliefs, and peace in her daily walk with Christ. Her life was a quiet testament to the values she held dear: humility, compassion, and service to others.
Martha was known for her strong work ethic and integrity. She worked for many years at Houston Lighting and Power Company, where she was recognized as a diligent and dedicated employee before retiring.
Outside of work, Martha enjoyed the simple joys of life—she had a love for country western dancing and spending time outdoors. She and her husband, James "Jimmy" Kuester, were happily married for 21 years. One of their favorite pastimes was fishing together, especially at their lakeside cabin where they spent cherished time after retirement.
One of Martha’s favorite hobbies was crafting. She found great joy in creating handmade gifts for her family, including beautiful Christmas stockings, tree skirts, and other keepsake crafts that continue to be treasured to this day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Encarnación Rodríguez and Marcario Garcia; her sister, Evangelina "Eva" Laurel; her brother, Victor Rodriguez; her beloved husband, James "Jimmy" Kuester; and her dear nephew, John Rodriguez.
Martha is survived by her four children, Christina Saha, Theresa Navarro, Jimmy Thurston, and Jimmy "Junior" Thurston; her sister, Virginia Galaviz; her cherished grandchildren, Manuel "Johnny" Lopez, Sophia Garcia, and Vanessa LaBadie; her much loved son-in-law, Jeff Saha, and sister-in-law, Norma Rodriguez; as well as many adored nieces, a nephew, and their families—each of whom she touched deeply with her love and kindness. She also leaves behind extended family and countless friends who will forever remember her warmth, strength, and unwavering love.
Martha’s memory will live on through the love she gave, the faith she shared, and the lives she touched. Though she may be gone, her memory will remain etched into the hearts of all who knew her.
