

Martha Elva Lewis, 64, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday March 11, 2012. She was born on October 30, 1947 in Hebbronville, Texas to Ausencio and Dolores Zapata. Martha moved to Houston with her sisters in her early 20’s. She learned to drive when she was in her 30’s. Martha was preceded in death by her sister Olivia Perez , brother Javier Hinojosa and beloved brother in law Jesse Solis. She is survived by her husband, Charles Lewis; daughter, Marie Garcia and her partner Martha Lara; step-son, Ed Lewis; brothers, Raymond & Mario Zapata; sisters, Estella Garcia, Irene Ramirez, Rosa Flores, and Camie Solis. Martha worked in retail (general office work) her whole career. Lane Bryant (70’s) Sakowitz (70’s), Target (80’s), Star Furniture (90’s). She worked in the furniture industry for about 14 years. 8 years with Star Furniture. She then spent 10 years as an archive clerk at the ExxonMobile Brookhollow Campus for 10 years from 2001 to 2010. Martha spent 6 years riding across the US with husband Charles on their Honda Gold Wing. They were member of the local chapter. Her favorite movie was Pretty Woman and she loved cats, hummingbirds, butterflies and roosters. She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday March 15, 2012 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
